Gorek's "Scattered Moments" exhibition was inspired by the incomparable Octavio Paz poem "Sun Stone." The line, "...the moment scatters itself in many things," resonated with her and these paintings are its echoes. She writes, "I love how light touches darkness... I'm drawn to the unguarded moment, stripped of artifice, a caught thought trapped in the body that betrays an inner life. I feel the surrender of a tulip, the mood of the ocean and the storm at the center of a rose."
