Ryan Grossman uses painting as a means of commentary or reflection by attempting to create a moment or narrative that taps into human emotion and the experiences we share unconsciously. After earning a degree from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Grossman began to reflect on the landscape her grew up in (the Pacific Northwest) and the quiet melancholy of the seascape. His work often goes into surrealism, and he uses symbolism to reflect his curiosity of the unknown and other. He strives to achieve the believable through a more abstract approach to mark making.
