We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Mendocino Sunrise Vacation Home to curate some of the art in one of the coast’s premier vacation rental homes. This stunning contemporary craftsman-style home is itself a wonderful work of architecture, with soaring 18-foot ceilings and exposed beams that create great walls for big art. And… as you know… that is our jam!
During the summer of 2023, we are featuring artists Yari Ostovany, Thomas T. Thomas and Andrew Walker Patterson on specific walls in this home.
Yari Ostovany categorizes his work as Atmospheric Abstraction, navigating the terrain between Abstract Expressionism and Eastern Mystical traditions. His work is in the permanent collections of many institutions including the New Britain Museum of American Art (New Britain, Connecticut), Pasargad Bank Museum (Tehran, Iran), Chateau d’Orquevaux (Champagne-Ardenne, France), Permanent Collection of the University of Nevada – Reno Art Department. Ostovany now lives and creates in the East Bay.
Thomas T. Thomas is a local artist and winemaker in Philo, California. Thomas’ journey into painting was totally by accident, but since that happy day he has developed an intense passion for painting, creating wonderful canvases filled with color, light, and movement. According to Yadira Roman, Thomas’ “technique enables extraordinary levels of compositional complexity, inviting the viewer to unravel a vibrant nexus of color and discover intricate patterns hidden behind the stunning first image.”
Andrew Walker Patterson strives to capture a place in the world. A place is many things, and it is always changing. His perception of that place is constantly shifting, too. He represents a place’s appearance; but he also captures its sense, its feel, and its underlying social structures. A place is not a distant landscape for aesthetic consideration only. It has a presence, and he is embedded in it. Andrew represents this by evoking its physicality and the way that it surrounds him.
