Art Galleries of Mendocino

As we mark the three-year anniversary of Lansing Street Gallery, we are reflecting on what a wonderful place to have settled. The Village of Mendocino is charming and quirky and all the things you have heard over the years.

One of the things we didn’t expect was to be embraced so warmly and whole-heartedly by this coastal community. Since we opened our doors with an exhibit featuring one solo artist (Toby Hill), we have grown to represent more than 27 coastal, Bay Area and Northern California artists, many of whom have international reputations.

Among those who have accepted us into this historic artists’ enclave are the other galleries—including Prentice and Highlight and the esteemed Mendocino Art Center, with its legendary and long-standing history. The Artists’ Co-op and Partners galleries are more like owner-operator arts enterprises, staffed by the artists who create the work. All of us, in turn, have welcomed even more recent newcomers, like Den Modern bringing a design esthetic.

Realizing how much we all have in common and how dedicated we are to advancing the arts in all their forms, we seven galleries have joined together to form The Art Galleries of Mendocino (AGOM) to support each other, to promote our artists, and to raise the profile of Mendocino and the community of coastal artists all along the Northern California coastline.

As we begin the glorious fall season, AGOM also debuts a new website with information about each gallery with links for your ease and convenience. Over time we will jointly host events and activities together and share with you the backstories of some of our fabulous artists—from woodworkers to ceramicists, plein air and oil painters, mixed media and collage artists, photographers, glass blowers, jewelers, and interpretive artists.

In the meantime, enjoy the new website and join us every Second Saturday for Art Walks in the Village of Mendocino.
