This outstanding piece was slowly wood fired in a pit. It was heated to 2385°F over 7 days and then cooled over 8 days. It is very unusual for a large piece like this to come through that process wholly intact. The discolorations and residue create a beautiful patina.

Roger Yee is a Master Potter whose work is inspired by Chinese, Japanese, and Korean pottery. Roger holds an MFA from San Jose State and has over 30 years experience as a ceramic artist. He was awarded an Artist in Residence at the Mendocino Art Center many years ago and continues to enjoy time at the coast.
