This 45x45 inch oil on wood panel, titled "Floatation" is part of the UNDERCURRENT exhibit currently on display through July 2023.

UNDERCURRENT features a group of Gorek women submerged underwater. They are accompanied by a variety of Gorek's abstracts and a few fan fave vintage bathers. As Gorek points out: " The abstracts have layers and layers of paint and the bathers have emotional undercurrents. So, they all deal with sub text and hidden content."

Gorek's paintings range from colorful abstracts to representational figurative work and are largely oil on wood panels or oil on canvas mounted to wood panels. She comes from a family of artists and considers herself a life-long student of fine art. Gorek loves how light touches darkness. She is drawn to the unguarded moment, stripped of artifice, a caught thought trapped in the body that betrays an inner life.
